MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – Head Coach Paul Swanson and the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's volleyball program are pleased to announce the signing of Maria Kolinoff for the upcoming 2017 season.
"We are very pleased to add Maria to our program," Coach Swanson said. "Maria is an experienced player, an excellent student, and a great person. We are thrilled that she has decided to make MVNU her university choice."
Kolinoff, who hails from Canal Fulton, Ohio, prepped at Northwest High School where she earned multiple honors throughout her high school career. She was named 2nd Team All-District and All-County two times, 1st Team All-District and All-County two times, Offensive Player of the Year, and MVP, as well as being a scholar athlete.
As a senior, Kolinoff competed in 26 matches, notching 270 kills, 250 digs, 15 blocks, five assists, 39 aces, and a serving percentage of 88%. Kolinoff broke the Northwest records for attacks in a season and career, as well as digs in a career.
"Maria is an excellent all-around player, but will mostly help us in the back row," said Swanson. "She has had an excellent high school career with many honors and we are excited to have her compete on our team. Maria also has a great personality and will fit in well academically and spiritually here at MVNU."
Kolinoff plans to major in Biology, following the Pre-Occupational Therapy track. She cited the pre-occupational therapy program, volleyball, and the small, Christian-college atmosphere as her main reasons for selecting MVNU.
