INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's track and field team had seven athletes earn Crossroads League awards when they were recently announced by the league office Friday afternoon.
Carl Jones, Makai Lewis (FR), Joseph Joe (FR), and Brandon Brown (SO/Cleveland, Ohio) all placed third in the 4x100 relay as they all earned All-League honors. Brandon Brown from this group also placed in the individual 100m sprint. Brown placed second overall in the 100m with a time of 11.01.
Jake Sherer (SR/Twinsburg, Ohio) earned All-League honors as he finished with a time of 1:56.10 in the 800m.
On the field, Mitchell Soviak (SO/Richwood, Ohio) finished in third place in the conference Shot-put event. Soviak qualified for NAIA Nationals earlier in the year to continue his post season along with his All-League honors.
Joey McDonald (SO/Lebanon, Ohio) took home two separate All-League honors in the conference meet with his javelin throw and his discuss throw. McDonald finished second in both events and also qualified for NAIA Nationals at the end of May.
The Crossroads League Track and Field Championships took place at Indiana Wesleyan University on May 5th and May 6th. All-League award winners are given to the top 3 finishers in each event.
