MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – Head Coach Paul Swanson and the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's volleyball program are pleased to announce the signing of Mary Kate Harmody for the upcoming 2017 season.
"MVNU has added a great person, student, athlete, and player in Mary Kate Harmody," said head coach Paul Swanson. "She fits really well with our team. We love her Christian commitment, personality, and athletic ability."
Harmody, a Solon, Ohio native, prepped at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy where she was a Pac-7 All-Conference selection in her senior season, as well as an Honorable Mention honoree as a junior.
As a senior, Harmody competed in 25 matches, smashing 273 kills to go along with 81 digs and 59 blocks. She also served up 37 aces.
"Mary Kate is a quality and versatile player," continued Swanson. "She will help us at any hitting position. She is an honor roll student who will excel as a nursing major here at MVNU."
Harmody, who plans to major in nursing, had this to say about her college choice: "My reason for attending MVU stems from the amazing Christian atmosphere that you experience all over campus. Also, on my campus visit, I loved what the nursing program had to offer. Along with those two things, getting to know the volleyball team and coaches really made me want to go to MVNU in the fall."
