Baseball Falls Twice in Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Mount Vernon Nazarene University baseball team (20-24, 15-19 CL) fell twice at the University of Saint Francis (27-21, 21-13 CL) on Thursday, April 27.

A big fourth inning for USF put the game away. The hosts scored seven runs in the inning to take control and eventually cruise to a 10-0 win. The story of game one was Saint Francis pitcher Riley Perlich who threw a no-hitter.

MVNU fell in the second game by a final of 7-3. USF pushed across two runs in the first and four runs in the second to take control again early. After a Brady Wallace sac-fly in the top of the fourth, USF added another run in the bottom of the inning. MVNU added runs in the fifth and sixth innings but could not muster up anything else. Blaine Keener led the offense by going 2-3 at the plate with an RBI.

What's Next

Due to weather, MVNU's remaining two games at Saint Francis are being moved from Friday, April 28 to Saturday, April 29. First pitch of the doubleheader will be at 12:00pm.
