Skyler Wiggand Tabbed to Lead MVNU Golf Program

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. — Mount Vernon Nazarene University Athletics is excited to announce the hiring of Skyler Wiggand as its next head coach of the men's and women's golf teams on Monday, June 1.

"We are excited to have Skyler and his family joining our team at MVNU," said Director of Athletics, Chip Wilson. "His experience as a former member of our golf program and MVNU alum will be helpful in the continued development of the program. There are good days ahead for our men's and women's golf programs!" 

Wiggand joined the men's golf program in the fall of 2021 and played three seasons for the Cougars. Wiggand, who is originally from Fredericktown, Ohio, graduated from MVNU in the spring of 2024 with a Bachelor of Arts in Emergency Management & Homeland Security. Prior to his time at MVNU, Wiggand served as a member of the United States Marine Corps.

As a player for MVNU, Wiggand was an Academic All-Crossroads League recipient and a Daktronics Scholar-Athlete. Wiggand also was a two-time winner of the Men's Golf Cougar Award.

Along with a passion for golf, Wiggand has a passion for making a difference off the course. Wiggand works at Nationwide Children's Hospital as an Emergency Manager, where he is Ohio Certified in that area of expertise.

"As a former student-athlete and graduate of MVNU, I am beyond thankful for an opportunity to coach the men's and women's golf program," said Wiggand. "Both teams are young and have a lot of talent. Looking forward to an exciting season this fall."
