Men’s Lacrosse Suffers First Loss to RV Taylor
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. — The (RV) Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's lacrosse team (8-1) continued its homestand with another game at CH4 against the (RV) Taylor University Trojans (5-2) on Saturday, March 15.
The first quarter saw Taylor strike first to take a 1-0 lead, but Ethan Haney responded for MVNU with a Man-Up goal to even the score at 1-1 from the Angelo Elia assist. After Taylor regained the lead at 2-1, Zechariah Gee quickly answered to tie it again at 2-2. However, Taylor capitalized on two late goals to close the quarter with a 4-2 advantage.
In the second quarter, Taylor extended its lead to 5-2 with an early goal and added another at the 6:56 mark to make it 6-2. MVNU mounted a late push, as Tyler Dickerson found the net off an assist from Haney to cut it to 6-3. One minute later, Elia followed with another goal with an assist from Kaden Tinner, bringing MVNU within 6-4 at halftime.
Momentum shifted in the third quarter as Haney led MVNU's comeback effort. He scored at 12:11 to make it 6-5 with an assist from Elia and then struck again at 9:54 to tie the game at 6-6. Taylor responded at 5:54 to regain the lead at 7-6 and added another goal at 1:26, entering the final period with an 8-6 advantage.
The fourth quarter saw Taylor pull away, netting a goal at 5:36 to extend the lead to 9-6. Another score at 3:24 pushed the margin to 10-6, and a late goal at 0:41 made it 11-6. Haney managed to add one final goal for MVNU with seven seconds remaining, but Taylor's strong offensive performance secured the 11-7 victory.

Men's Lacrosse will be right back in CH4 for another home matchup, taking on the No. 9 Lawrence Tech Blue Devils on Thursday, March 20, with faceoff scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
