MVNU Falls to High-Powered No. 9 Lawrence Tech Offense

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. — The (RV) Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's lacrosse team (8-2) were right back in CH4 for another home matchup, taking on the No. 9 Lawrence Tech Blue Devils (5-1) on Thursday, March 20.

Lawrence Tech took control early, opening the scoring at 12:44 in the first quarter and building a 5-0 lead before MVNU's Ethan Haney, assisted by Gabe Wolf, put the Cougars on the board at 1:45 to make it 5-1.

In the second quarter, Lawrence Tech extended its lead with three goals to go up 8-1. MVNU responded with a goal from Tyler Dickerson at 9:09, followed by Kaden Tinner scoring off a Dickerson assist at 7:52 to cut the deficit to 8-3. However, Lawrence Tech added two more goals before halftime, making it 10-3.

The third quarter saw MVNU's Haney convert on an extra-man opportunity at 13:01, but Lawrence Tech remained in control, adding three goals to take a 14-4 lead into the final period.

In the fourth, Dickerson struck again for MVNU at 14:21 off a Wolf assist, and Wolf later found the net himself at 5:42 with an assist from Haney. Tinner added a late unassisted goal with five seconds remaining, but Lawrence Tech's offense proved too strong, sealing a 19-7 victory.

Freshman goalie Vaughan Hawkins started and recorded 19 saves in the game.

Men's Lacrosse is set for another home game at CH4, battling the Siena Heights University Saints from the WHAC conference on Saturday, March 22, with faceoff at 4:00 p.m.
