MVNU Track & Field Set for NAIA Outdoor Championships
ASHEVILLE, NC. — The Mount Vernon Nazarene University track and field team is set to compete at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships at the University of North Carolina Asheville on May 20-22.
For the women's team, Makenna Langford will compete in the 400m hurdle prelims on Wednesday, May 20 at 4:30 p.m. Langford hit the NAIA B standard with a time of 1:02.25 and is seeded at 23rd overall. Finals for the 400m hurdles will be at 4:15 p.m. on Friday, May 22.
The women's 4x800m relay team of Allison Bonito, Jenna Brumbaugh, Louisa Hallabrin, and Ashley Yoder compete on Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. with finals being on Thursday at 6:10 p.m. should it move on from prelims. The 4x800m relay team is seeded 23rd overall with a NAIA B Standard time of 9:23.35.
For the men's team Isaac Burns competes in the high jump finals on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Burns is seeded at fourth in the nation with a NAIA B Standard jump of 2.07m.
The men's 4x800m relay team of Trent Koning, Daron Porter, Simon Rohwer, and Evan Hodkinson compete in prelims on Wednesday at 6:50 p.m. Finals will be the following day at 6:30 p.m. The team currently has the second fastest time in the nation with a NAIA A Standard mark of 7:30.41.
Hodkinson will also run in the 800m prelims on Thursday at 2:50 p.m. Finals for the event will be on Friday at 4:10 p.m. Hodkinson is seeded at 12th overall with a NAIA A Standard time of 1:50.48.
Mason Hendrickson will run in the 3000m steeplechase on Wednesday at 7:55 p.m. Finals will take place on Friday at 2:45 p.m. Hendrickson hit the NAIA B Standard with a time of 9:19.64.
Tyler Shipley will compete in the pole vault finals on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Shipley is tied with the second highest jump in the nation with a NAIA A Standard mark of 5.10m.
