MVNU Sweeps Midway and Dordt to Improve to 3-0

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's volleyball team (3-0) resumed play at Olivet Nazarene University with a pair of matches against Midway University (0-3) and Dordt University (3-1) on Friday, January 23.

MVNU got a big first win of the day, improving to 2-0 after sweeping Midway. MVNU controlled the match from the start, winning each set by scores of 25-17, 25-12, and 25-16.

Christian Kyer led MVNU with eight kills, while Jackson Bush had seven of his own to also go with a team-high six digs. Noah Wineberg, Tommy Tierney, and Hayvin Larison each had six kills. Larison added a team-best four blocks. Jaxson Snell operated the offensive attack, dishing out 25 assists.

In the second match of the day against Dordt, MVNU once again came away with a convincing sweep. After taking set one by a final of 25-19, MVNU claimed the second set 27-25. MVNU stayed hot in set three, taking the match by a score of 25-16 to improve its record to 3-0 in 2026.

Ethan Cline, Tierney, and Xander Devault each led MVNU with nine kills. Tyler Monnin led the team with nine digs. Snell finished with a season-high 30 assists to go with four digs and two blocks. As a team, MVNU hit a red-hot .354 in the sweep.

What's Next

MVNU will have its first home match of the season on January 27 in Ariel Arena against Indiana East. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
