Men’s Volleyball Falls in Four Sets to Wittenberg
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's volleyball team (3-1) had its first home match of the season in Ariel Arena against Wittenberg University (4-1) on Thursday, January 29.
MVNU got off to a slow, dropping set one 25-12. The Cougars started to pick up the intensity in set two, but would fall once again, this time by a score of 25-21. MVNU used the momentum it had found with its increased play in set two, grabbing a set three victory with a score of 25-23. Ethan Cline had back-to-back kills for MVNU at the end of the set that pushed MVNU to the win. Wittenberg started strong in set four and never looked back, jumping out to a 9-1 lead on its way to a 25-10 win. MVNU fell in four sets to Wittenberg and suffered its first loss of the 2026 season.
Cline led the Cougars with nine kills, five digs, and three blocks. Tommy Tierney also paced MVNU with seven kills, eight digs, and a block. Noah Wineberg added six kills and a team-high six blocks. Tyler Monnin led with 10 digs for the Cougars and Jaxson Snell had 23 assists, four digs, and a kill.
