Men’s Volleyball Swept by (RV) Bethel

MISHAWAKA, Ind.  The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's volleyball team (5-2, 2-1 WHAC) traveled to Mishawaka, Indiana and took on (RV) Bethel University (5-0, 4-0 WHAC) on Saturday, February 7.  

 

In the first set, the Cougars and Pilots were tied 6–6 early on. MVNU later fell behind 12–14 before Bethel pulled away, extending its lead to 20–16. The Cougars were unable to recover and dropped the opening set, 18-25. 

The Cougars took an early lead in the second set, but Bethel evened the score at eight. The two teams traded points, and MVNU recorded three consecutive kills to force a Bethel timeout. Tied again at 14–14, Bethel regained the lead and maintained control for the remainder of the set, winning 25–19. 

In the third set, MVNU kept the contest close, trailing just 10–11 midway through. The Cougars remained within striking distance at 17–19, but Bethel closed out the match with a 25–21 win. 

Xander Devault led the Cougars with nine kills and added two digs. Jaxson Snell contributed 31 assists to go with five digs on the defensive end. Ethan Cline had eight kills and a team-high nine digs. 

 

What's Next 

MVNU will be on the road traveling to Sylvania, Ohio to take on Lourdes University on Tuesday, February 11 at 7:00 p.m.
