Men’s Volleyball Defeats (RV) Cornerstone in Ariel Arena
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's volleyball team (6-3, 3-2 WHAC) played in Ariel Arena against (RV) Cornerstone University (4-5, 3-2 WHAC) in a conference battle on Friday, February 13.
MVNU and Cornerstone were evenly matched at the beginning of the first set with the score tied at 6-6 early and 17-17 late. Trailing 17-18, the Cougars captured momentum with three straight points. MVNU led the remainder of the set and would win 25-21. In set two, the Golden Eagles would bounce back, winning with a final score of 25-20. MVNU responded in a big way in the next two sets as it hit .303 in set three and a blistering .500 in the fourth and final set. MVNU took set three by a final of 25-19 and dominated in set four, taking the match with a score of 25-16. With the four-set win over Cornerstone, the Cougars surpassed their win total from the 2025 season.
Tommy Tierney had a huge match. The freshman had a match-high 17 kills while hitting .452 and had 12 digs. Ethan Cline had 11 kills and a match-high five blocks. Xander Devault had 10 kills and eight digs. Elisha Thao had a match-high 15 digs for the Cougars. Jaxson Snell orchestrated MVNU's offensive attack with a match-high 46 assists. Snell also had six digs.

MVNU will travel to Rochester Hills, Michigan to take on Rochester Christian University on Friday, February 20 at 7:00 p.m.
