Men’s Volleyball Drops Match to Indiana Tech
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's volleyball team (7-6, 4-4 WHAC) hosted Indiana Tech University (9-6, 6-3 WHAC) at Ariel Arena on Friday, March 6.
MVNU took a 5-2 lead early in the first set, but Indiana Tech would answer back with a few rallies to push its lead to 22-11. MVNU attempted to rally points late, but Indiana Tech would take the first set 25-18.
The Cougars came back fighting in the second set, taking a small lead of 14-13. Indiana Tech tied the game 24-24 late, but a block by Hayvin Larison and Christian Kyer followed by an Indiana Tech error would give the Cougars the 26-24 win, forcing a third set.
In the third set, Indiana Tech took a 6-1 lead. MVNU would narrow the lead to 14-13 after four Indiana Tech attacking errors. However, the Cougars would still fall to Indiana Tech 22-25. In the fourth set, Indiana Tech once again took a strong 10-6 lead. MVNU would keep the game close throughout, until Indiana Tech pulled away at the end, winning the set 25-19 and the match 3-1.
Tommy Tierney led MVNU with 11 kills and eight digs. Jackson Bush and Ethan Cline both had eight kills and two assists. Cline added five blocks and four digs. Noah Wineberg and Larison both came away with six kills. Jaxson Snell had 22 assists, two kills, and five digs. Austin Kolaczkowski had 14 assists.

The Cougars host Defiance College at Ariel Arena on Saturday, March 7 at 2:00 p.m.
