Cougars Outdone by No. 12 Pilots in Ariel Arena

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's volleyball team (8-8, 5-5 WHAC) hosted the No. 12 Bethel University Pilots (12-2, 10-0 WHAC) on Saturday, March 14 in Ariel Arena.

MVNU dropped the first set to the Pilots by a score of 21-25. The Cougars responded to the set one loss with a big effort in set two. MVNU built a 10-7 lead early, eventually stretching it to 20-13. The Cougars held on, winning the set 25-19. Bethel remained collected as it took set three 25-18 before wrapping up the match with a 25-16 win in set four. Bethel hit .414 in set four and .254 overall for the match.

Ethan Cline had a team-high 13 kills while hitting .500. Cline had five digs and five blocks. Noah Wineberg followed Cline's performance with 12 kills and three blocks. Xander DeVault and Tommy Tierney each led MVNU with 10 digs. Austin Kolaczkowski had 21 assists for MVNU, and Jaxson Snell finished with 18 assists.

MVNU hosts No. 8 Lourdes University on Tuesday, March 17 in Ariel Arena. First serve is at 7:00 p.m.
