Season Ends in WHAC Tournament Opening Round for Men’s Volleyball
SYLVANIA, Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's volleyball team (11-14, 8-10 WHAC) began postseason play in the WHAC Tournament Opening Round at Lourdes University (22-5, 15-3 WHAC) on Tuesday, April 14.
MVNU entered the match as the No. 6 seed in the WHAC and Lourdes entered third. The first set was a tightly contested battle with Lourdes pulling away late to win by a score of 25-21. The Gray Wolves carried momentum over into set two and would claim a 2-0 match lead with a 25-17 victory. MVNU battled hard in set three and held a 24-23 lead. Lourdes however responded with three straight points, ending MVNU's season.
Tommy Tierney closed his strong freshman season with 10 kills while hitting .316. Ethan Cline had eight kills and two digs. Tyler Monnin anchored MVNU on defense with six digs. Jaxson Snell led MVNU with 16 assists.
Noah Wineberg had three blocks for MVNU and finished his career with 200 total which is good for third all-time in program history.
