Women's Volleyball Season Concludes with Pool Play Loss to Concordia

SIOUX CITY, Iowa. – The No. 13 Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's volleyball team (31-5) battled against the highly ranked No. 4 Concordia University (Nebraska) (27-3) in its final Pool D matchup held at the Tyson Events Center on Friday, December 6.

The Lady Cougars started strong in the opening set, establishing a 7-3 lead over the Lady Bulldogs. Concordia answered with a 4-point run, followed by a 5-point streak after an MVNU attack point, gaining a 12-8 advantage. The teams exchanged points until the score was tied at 14-14. From there, the Lady Bulldogs took control and secured a 25-18 victory in the first set.

MVNU struggled to find its rhythm in the second set, falling behind 0-4 early. MVNU rallied to close the gap to 5-6, trailing by just one point, but Concordia regained control and dominated the remainder of the set. Ultimately, MVNU dropped the second set with a final score of 25-15.

The third set was a tightly contested battle, with both teams exchanging points early on, tying at 4-4 and again at 8-8. Concordia gained momentum with a three-point run to take an 11-8 lead, prompting MVNU to call a timeout. MVNU fought back, narrowing the deficit to just one point at 14-13. However, the Lady Bulldogs responded with another surge, extending their lead to 18-13. Ultimately, MVNU's run in Pool D and the historic season ended as they fell to the No. 4 Bulldogs in three sets, with a final score of 25-21.
