Men’s Tennis Opens Season with 5-2 Win at Shawnee State

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's tennis team opened its season with a 5-2 win at Shawnee State University on Saturday, September 20.

The victory marks the first time that men's tennis has ever won its season opener and it marks the programs first win since October 5, 2023 against Capital University.

Even though MVNU was unable to get a win in doubles, MVNU took five of six from the Bears in singles. CJ Danemayer (2-6, 6-3, 11-9), Noah Hill (7-5, 5-6, 10-5), Blake Boyer (6-7, 6-3, 10-6), Nathan Fitzpatrick (6-2, 6-0), and Ryan Almovodar (6-0, 6-3) each prevailed against their opponents to lift MVNU to the win.

What's Next

MVNU competes in the ITA Regionals in Marion, Indiana on September 24. Matchups and times are TBD.
