Men’s Tennis Drops Match to No. 20 Marian

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's tennis team competed in the third day of the PTR Tennis Fest against No. 20 Marian University on Tuesday, March 3. 

The Cougars struggled against Marian and were unable to get on the board in the match, causing a 0-7 loss. Matt Easter paired with Noah Hill fell to Marian with a set score of 1-6. Nathan Fitzpatrick and CJ Danemayer were defeated by Marian 0-6. Blake Boyer and Ryan Almovodar were able to score two points in their match, but Marian still finished on top 6-2. 

Easter, Almovodar, and Boyer were unable to score in their individual matches, allowing Marian to have a 6-0 win in both sets. Danemayer fell in both sets with scores 1-6 and 2-6, and Fitzpatrick also fell with scores of 1-6 and 0-6. Hill dropped the first set to Marian 0-6 and came up short in the second set with a score of 5-7. 

 

What's Next 

MVNU will compete in the final day of the PTR Tennis Fest when taking on Assumption University in Hilton Head, South Carolina on Wednesday, March 4, starting at 10:00 a.m.
