Men’s Volleyball Improves to 5-1 with Five Set Win at Goshen

GOSHEN, Ind. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's volleyball team (5-1, 2-0 WHAC) remained undefeated in conference play after it took down Goshen College (4-7, 0-2 WHAC) on Friday, February 6.

MVNU came out strong, taking set one 26-24. With the score tied at 24, back-to-back kills from Noah Wineberg and Xander Devault gave the Cougars the win. In set two, MVNU kept up its inspired play. MVNU hit .211 in set two and had 14 kills in the 25-22 win. Goshen battled back and took the next two sets by scores of 25-22 and 25-20 to tie the match. MVNU controlled the fifth and final set, hitting a blistering .467. Ethan Cline and Jackson Bush had the final two kills in the set to give MVNU the match win. With the victory, MVNU matched its win total from the 2025 season.

Cline had a match-high 17 kills to go with five blocks and three digs. Devault had 10 kills, five digs, and three blocks. Hayvin Larison had a team-high seven blocks, while Tyler Monnin led all players with nine digs. Jaxson Snell had 40 assists, seven digs, and six kills.

 

What's Next

MVNU is back in action tomorrow, February 7 in Mishawaka, Indiana at (RV) Bethel University. First serve is at 2:00 p.m.
