Cougars Fall to No. 6 Lawrence Tech in Four Sets
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's volleyball team (7-4, 4-3 WHAC) traveled to Southfield, Michigan to play against No. 6 Lawrence Tech University (9-3, 5-2 WHAC) in a conference match on Saturday, February 21.
The Cougars got off to a slow start, falling behind 4–8 to the Blue Devils. MVNU narrowed the gap to 8–11, but Lawrence Tech responded with a run to extend its lead to 20–14. The Blue Devils went on to take the first set, 25–20.
The second set began evenly, with MVNU and Lawrence Tech tied at 2–2. The Blue Devils then surged ahead 13–8. The Cougars battled back to within three points at 23–20, but ultimately dropped the set, 25–21.
MVNU came out strong in the third set, building early leads of 5–2 and 11–7. Lawrence Tech trimmed the deficit to two at 14–12, but the Cougars maintained control and claimed the set, 25–19. MVNU was efficient offensively, posting a .533 hitting percentage with nine kills and just one error.
Lawrence Tech secured the match by taking the fourth set, 25–18, to win 3–1. Ethan Cline led the Cougar offense with 13 kills, while Tommy Tierney added nine. Tierney also had eight digs, and Cline had five blocks. Hayvin Larison led MVNU with seven blocks at the net. Jaxson Snell recorded 33 assists and contributed three kills.

The Cougars will return home to take on Cumberland University on Tuesday, March 3 at 6:00 p.m.
