No. 8 Lourdes too Much for Men’s Volleyball

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's volleyball team (8-9, 5-6 WHAC) hosted a top ten WHAC opponent in Ariel Arena on Tuesday, March 17.

Lourdes University (16-3, 10-1 WHAC) entered the match at MVNU ranked as the No. 8 team in the nation. Lourdes got off to a strong start by taking the first set of the match 25-17. MVNU showed fight in set two, keeping it close throughout. MVNU and Lourdes were tied at 19-19 before the Gray Wolves ripped off three straight points to take a 22-19 lead. MVNU fell in set two by a score of 22-25. Lourdes finished off the match by winning set three in dominant fashion by a score of 25-11.

Tommy Tierney had a team-high seven kills to go with five digs and a block. Jackson Bush had six kills and three digs. Austin Kolaczkowski had 10 assists, three digs, one kill and a service ace. Tyler Monnin anchored the defense with seven digs and Noah Wineberg and Hayvin Larison each added three blocks.

MVNU returns to action on Friday, March 20 at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan at 7:00 p.m.
