Lady Cougars Dominate in 5-1 Win over Shawnee State

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's tennis team competed in the second day of the PTR Tennis Fest and faced Shawnee State University on Monday, March 2. 

The Lady Cougars secured a 5-1 win over Shawnee State after a strong performance in doubles and individual matchups. The doubles team, Deah Bresson and Annie Mahek, took the win over Shawnee State with a set score of 6-2. Andi Green and Alanna Reyes won their doubles match up by a shutout score of 6-0. 

In her individual match, Bresson won both sets with scores of 6-4 and 6-3. Green defeated her opponent also in two sets with the first set ending in a score of 6-1 and the second 6-4. Reyes had a strong performance with 6-0 wins in both sets. Maria Cottenden took the individual match win with a 6-3 win in the first set and 6-1 in the second set. 

 

What's Next 

The Lady Cougars will continue playing in the third day of the PTR Tennis Fest in Hilton Head, South Carolina on Tuesday, March 3 and will take on Marian University, starting at 10:00 a.m.
